Watch this short video to see the Personal Color Viewer in action!

Getting Started!

You can either use the Personal Color Viewer on the Benjamin Moore website or you can download the Personal Color Viewer application to your personal computer. The application is FREE in both cases. Some users choose to download the application to their computer so they can use the application offline.

Using The Personal Color Viewer Online

  • Go to the Benjamin Moore website

  • Choose HomeBenjamin Moore

  • Select the Ad on the bottom left of the screen advertising the Personal Color Viewer (be aware that the location of this Ad may change in the future)Personal Color Viewer

When you use the application online you get the benefit of viewing 57 Interior and 49 Exterior Combinations. If you download the application you will have a few less sample images and combinations. We did this to keep file size low.

To use the online version of the application you have to be connected to the internet. You also have to be registered with the website to upload your own photo.

Downloading The Personal Color Viewer To Your Personal Computer (Mac or PC)

  • Select your language and click the Download Now buttton on this page. You can get to this page by scrolling to the bottom of the PCV web version.Personal Color Viewer

  • Fill out your Registration informationBenjamin Moore

  • Review your information, Copy your serial number down (in red)! You'll need your serial number later. After that you can Click to Install Your Software.Virtual Designer

  • After clicking the Install button you'll be brought to a new page.Virtual Designer

  • Install the lastest version of Adobe AIR and Flash Player before clicking the Install Now button on this page.

  • Click the Install Now button

  • Please wait while the application installs. You should see a pop up with a loading bar. If you do not see this bar, minimize your screen as it might be hidden underneath your browser window. Keep in mind that it may take a while to install. During installation on a machine running a newer operating systems like Windows 7 I think you have to be near the computer to answer a few security questions that are routinely asked during install.

  • Once the loading bar finishes it will ask you if you would like to open or save the file. Choose "Open"Personal Color Viewer

  • You should see another loading bar after you click open and when that's finished the Personal Color Viewer will ask for your serial number that you copied down earlier. Enter this number and the application should load. You're Finished!

Downloading the application to your own computer is great because you can use the application offline.

We'll try to answer more questions about the Personal Color Viewer via blog posts but if you have any questions please comment and we'll answer!

I'm using the downloaded version and I can't figure out how to email the PCV project. Emailing the "image" is easy, but how do I email the actual project so someone else can pick colors(of course they have PCV on installed on their computer).

Hi- You can only email flat jpegs of your images. For someone else to change colors on that image, they would need to upload, and prepare it again on their own computer.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about the software.

Naser, The Benjamin Moore Personal Color Viewer isn't available for embedding on your personal website. However, we do offer The Varatys Virtual Designer, branded with your logo and personal preferences, as a monthly subscription service. You can check it out on our website:www.varatys.com/virtual-designer/ or contact us directly: 508/871-0929 x7731 (Ask for Leslie)

As a designer I love this software and use it for clients a lot. I'm buying a Mac today and heard it isn't compatible. Are you ever going to create a Mac version?
Posted @ Tuesday, February 12, 2013 4:21 PM by Cindy
Hi Cindy, It works with macs but it has quirks. Try the website version of PCV, that will work better with your Mac vs the downloadable software. When a new version is available I will post a comment on this blog thread so that you stay in the loop. Please also join our email list to stay up to date on all the newest changes. Thanks!

I am using the downloaded version (for Mac) of the PCV but I cannot figure out how to select the paint samples I want to use. I know which colours I want, I just can't find any means of incorporating them into my room pictures. All I'm getting is a bright lime green (which I did not choose) when I outline the area I want to paint. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Save your green masking and then click on the "paint photo" button. This will bring you to a screen where you can drag and drop colors onto the portions of your room scene that you masked in the green color.

I love the PCV program and use it alot with my clients. I recently purchased an IPad 3 and am surprised to find out that PCV is not compatible. Is there any way to get around this. Can you recommend another tablet that would show the PCV color well. That has also been a problem for me.
Thank you.

Thanks Kate for answering my question!!
Can you give me an idea of how far out it is...1 month, 1 year?

We haven't identified an exact launch date yet but I can tell you that it should be done within this year.
